I Tried to Survive an Alien Invasion in GTA 5 for 48 Hours

GTA 5 is full of crazy things — flying cars, wild NPCs, and players who act like movie villains. But what happens when you add aliens into the mix? I decided to find out. I downloaded a mod that brought an alien invasion to Los Santos and challenged myself to survive for 48 in-game hours. Sounds easy, right? Yeah… it wasn’t.

The Setup

The alien invasion mode completely changes the world of GTA 5. Green skies, strange sounds, and UFOs hovering above the city — it felt like something out of a sci-fi movie. Random alien ships would spawn in the sky and shoot energy blasts at anything that moved. Alien soldiers even walked the streets, attacking civilians and cops alike.

My goal was simple: survive two in-game days without dying. That’s around 96 real-life minutes of pure chaos. No cheats, no invincibility — just me, my weapons, and a city under attack .Hour 1: First Contact

I started in the middle of downtown Los Santos, and it was already a mess. People were screaming, cars were crashing, and explosions echoed from every direction. The sky was glowing green, and lightning bolts struck the streets. Then I saw it — my first alien ship hovering above Maze Bank Tower.

I aimed my sniper rifle at it just to test something. Bad idea. The UFO immediately fired back, blasting my car into flames. I ran for cover behind a police truck and realized this was going to be way harder than I thought.

Everywhere I looked, people were panicking. The police were trying to fight back but kept getting vaporized by alien weapons. I managed to steal a SWAT van and drove towards the countryside, hoping it would be safer out there. Spoiler: it wasn’t.

Hour 6: The Countryside Isn’t Safe

I reached Sandy Shores thinking it would be quiet — wrong again. The aliens were everywhere. They were teleporting in groups, blasting vehicles with laser rifles. I found a small bunker near the Alamo Sea and decided to make it my temporary base.

I stocked up on snacks, armor, and ammo. For a while, it felt calm. I could see the city burning in the distance while UFOs hovered above. But then a new wave appeared. Five alien soldiers spawned near my base. I tried to fight them off using grenades and a mini gun, but their shields were too strong. I had to retreat using a dirt bike, dodging laser fire as I escaped.

HOUR12: The Alien Patrols

By now, the invasion had spread across the entire map. Alien patrols were moving through highways, zapping anyone in sight. I tried sneaking through the forest near Mount Chiliad, using trees as cover. The sound of alien drones buzzed above me, scanning the ground for survivors.

I found a random NPC survivor — a firefighter who somehow made it this far. We teamed up. It was surprisingly emotional, like a little moment of hope in the madness. Together we looted a nearby police station for weapons and supplies. But right as we left, a UFO appeared overhead. It blasted the station to pieces, and my new friend didn’t make it. I barely escaped in a police car with the siren still on.

I was alone again.

Hour 24: Halfway There

At the halfway mark, the city looked completely destroyed. Buildings were burning, sirens were everywhere, and the sky was glowing bright green. I decided to head back into Los Santos to see how bad it had gotten.

What I saw was insane — hundreds of alien soldiers fighting SWAT teams in the streets. Rockets, lasers, and explosions everywhere. I climbed to the top of a parking garage and used my RPG to take down one of the smaller UFOs. It actually worked! The ship exploded midair, and a chunk of debris landed on a group of aliens. That small victory felt amazing.

Then, of course, another UFO spawned right above me and destroyed my entire building. I barely parachuted out in time. My character hit the ground with one bar of health left. I ate some snacks, hid behind a wall, and waited for things to calm down.

Hour 36: Hiding in the Storm

Night fell, and the green glow in the sky looked even scarier. I found a crashed alien ship near the Vinewood Hills. Inside, there were strange purple lights and alien tech scattered everywhere. I stayed there for a while to rest and reload. Outside, I could hear the storm raging — thunder, lasers, and distant screams.

I realized the game’s AI had started spawning even more aliens the longer I survived. It was like the invasion was adapting to me. Every few minutes, a new squad would teleport near my position. I kept running, switching cars, and hiding in tunnels whenever possible.

At this point, I was running out of ammo. I had to loot dead cops and aliens just to stay armed. My goal was just to survive till sunrise — the final few hours.

HOUR48: The Final Battle

As the 48th hour approached, I decided to make one last stand at the airport. I thought maybe I could steal a jet and fly away. The second I got there, three UFOs appeared above me. Lasers rained down. I jumped into a fighter jet, hit the throttle, and took off just as explosions covered the runway.

I managed to shoot down one UFO before the others locked onto me. My jet went down in flames and crashed into the ocean. I bailed out and swam toward the shore. The screen was shaking, the sirens were blaring, and my health was almost gone — but I made it. The in-game clock hit the 48-hour mark. I had officially survived.
